Among the hundred of vendors attending this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America Convention in Philadelphia is a Delaware County company that is unveiling new headgear that it says provides soccer players and other athletes with more protection against head injuries.
Unequal Technologies of Glen Mills, Pa., will introduce its Unequal HALO headband — which incorporates the company's protective padding technology designed to help reduce impact energy before it gets to the head — at the event being held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
"Concussions are the injury of our age," said Rob Vito, CEO of Unequal Technologies and the inventor of its technology. "Youth, high school, collegiate and professional soccer players are at risk of sustaining a concussion at a rate that is quite alarming. With our experience in developing protective solutions for our armed forces, law enforcement and governmental agencies as well as impact sports, using our technology to help protect soccer players is a natural."
