Delaware Father Charged with Fifth DUI after Crash Injures Toddler

Delaware troopers say a 2-year-old was injured and his father is charged with his 5th DUI offense after a moped they were riding crashed.

According to a state police news release, 48-year-old Anthony F. Taglienti was taken into custody Tuesday after troopers responded to a reported crash in Rehoboth Beach around 6:30 p.m. Troopers say Taglienti and his son were released from a local hospital after treatment for not life-threatening injuries.

According to police, Taglienti was riding the moped with the toddler on his lap when he lost control and crashed.

Police Master Corporal Gary Fournier says Taglienti was operating a 2012 Puma moped with his son on his lap when he lost control and they fell to the ground.

Fournier says Taglienti faces charges including endangering the welfare of a child. His previous DUI charges date back to 1998.

Taglienti is held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $17,200 cash bond. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
