The father of a central New Jersey toddler who was found wandering in the street last year has been indicted on child endangerment and drug possession charges.
The Star-Ledger reports the indictment against 34-year-old Dewitt Stallings III of Monroe was made public Wednesday. He remains free on bail, and a telephone number for him could not be located Thursday.
The year-old boy was wearing a onesie and socks and carrying a bottle of milk when he was found Oct. 18 in Montgomery. Police later found Stallings a few blocks away at the home where the child lives with his mother.
Authorities say Stallings told police he had been sleeping on a couch and estimated that the child could have been outside for less than an hour.
