Pennsylvania Teacher Who Led Student Walk-Outs Charged With Corruption of Minors

A charter school teacher faces dozens of summary charges of corruption of minors after encouraging hundreds of students to walk out of school in Allentown two months ago.

Officials told the Morning Call of Allentown on Friday that 29-year-old Michael Frassetto remains an employee at the Medical Academy Charter School in Catasauqua but is no longer teaching there.

The newspaper says charges were filed in recent days at Allentown-area courts.

Hundreds of students walked out Sept. 28 in a call for better treatment of minorities and more textbooks and other supplies.

An Allentown School District statement says encouraging truancy is an unlawful disruption of the educational process.

Court documents didn't list a defense lawyer for Frassetto, and he didn't appear to have a listed telephone number at his home in Breinigsville.
