Woman Accidentally Makes Wrong Turn, Dies in New Jersey Creek: Authorities

Investigators say the death of a New Jersey woman who died after she made a wrong turn and drove into a creek has been ruled an accident.

NJ.com reports a medical examiner made the ruling Monday after performing an autopsy on 60-year-old Cathy Shorter and said the cause of death was drowning.

Authorities say the Salem woman was attending a family event at the Salem County Sportsmen's Club in Penns Grove on Saturday night and mistakenly made a wrong turn while leaving the clubhouse. The narrow road took her through the woods and to the club's dock and boat ramp.

Investigators say she drove into Game Creek and one of the club's members spotted her car floating about 100 feet from the boat ramp the next morning.
