Camden Police Save 165 Lives Using Narcan

The number of lives saved from Narcan continues to rise. Camden County Police officers say they've now saved 165 overdose victims since they started using the anti-opioid medication in 2014.

On Wednesday, Officers James Evans and Maria Holmes found a man lying on the ground unconscious. Evans administered Narcan to the man, and both offices helped him until EMS arrived on the scene. The man was then taken to Cooper University Hospital, police said.

In 2015, there have been 583 recorded drug overdoses in Camden. Of those, 38 were fatalities.

In October, Camden County Freeholder-Director Louis Cappelli Jr. announced Operation SAL, a program intended to provide detoxification and rehabilitation services to overdose victims.
