Boyfriend of Victim, Suspect Share Holding Cell

The boyfriend of a woman fatally run down by an alleged drunken driver unwittingly shared a police holding cell with the suspect after his girlfriend's death.

State police charged 53-year-old Anthony Stetz, of Van Voorhis, with assaulting a trooper after he was arrested for driving drunk to the scene where his girlfriend, 29-year-old Brittany Chapman was killed Friday night.

Forty-two-year-old Robert Lee Myers Jr., of Ellsworth, was also arrested on vehicular homicide and other charges because police say he was drunk when he hit Chapman while she walked along a rural road.

The (Washington) Observer-Reporter says state police were releasing Stetz to his mother's custody when he allegedly scuffled with a trooper and was re-arrested.

As a result, Stetz wound up in the cell with Myers early Saturday, though neither man realized why the other was there.
