Body of Missing Swimmer Found in Margate

New Jersey State Police say the body of a juvenile that washed ashore in Margate on Wednesday morning is that of a 10-year-old boy who vanished in the ocean last weekend.

Khitan Devine, disappeared in the water Sunday night while swimming with his family near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Atlantic City. Lifeguards were off duty at the time.

Witnesses told NBC10 Sunday night that Devine, who is from North Carolina but was visiting Philadelphia for the summer, and his two sisters were swimming near the jetty when they became overwhelmed by strong currents.

The Atlantic City Beach Patrol rescued Devine's sister from a jetty that she was holding on to.

Devine's body was discovered by Margate lifeguards at Huntington Avenue Beach in Margate at 11:08 a.m., according to the Atlantic City Police Department.
