Baseball legend Tony Gwynn, known as "Mr. Padre," died at age 54 after a battle with cancer. His son, Philadelphia Phillies centerfielder Tony Gwynn Jr., reacted to his father's death on Twitter.
Gwynn Jr. tweeted: "Today I lost my Dad, my best friend and my mentor. I'm gonna miss u so much pops. I'm gonna do everything in my power to continue to... Make u proud! Love u pops!"
Gwynn collected 3,141 hits in 20 seasons with the San Diego Padres.
Gwynn Jr., who is in his eighth big-league season and first with the Phillies, called his Hall of Famer dad his "best friend."
