New Jersey Methadone Clinic Owes More Than $250K: Audit

An audit says a New Jersey methadone clinic owes the state more than a quarter of a million dollars after it revealed that several of the agency's costs weren't substantiated.

The Trentonian newspaper reports it obtained a copy of the July audit of New Horizon Treatment Services through a public records request.

The audit says the agency is hiding unused state money in bank accounts that aren't being reconciled, violated state wage and hour laws, and has employees who reported purchases that weren't supported by receipts.

Harry Luna, president of the agency's board of directors, says they're aware of the audit and have responded to the state to address deficiencies outlined in the report. He says the board tries not to "micromanage'' the staff.
