Atlantic City's Historic Kiwanis Club Disbands After 94 Years

Casinos are not alone in having a tough time attracting a crowd in Atlantic City.

The city's Kiwanis Club has disbanded after 94 years.

Co-president Henry Goldsmith tells The Press of Atlantic City the service club has not been able to recruit new members.

Goldsmith says the group has had little more than a handful of members show up for meetings and it hasn't attracted younger members.

The Kiwanis chapter emptied its treasury in the closing days, making contributions to the Child Federation of Atlantic City, the Salvation Army and the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
