Alum Drops $20M on Penn

University now at 75 percent of $3.5 billion goal

The University of Pennsylvania is $20 million richer after a generous alumnus gifted his money one of the nation's oldest universities.

George Weiss serves as the chair of the university's $3.5 billion Making History fundraising campaign, which was kicked off in 2007.

School officials say the gift brings the campaign to 75 percent of its goal. The money is earmarked for faculty support and will pay for four new professorships that will bridge university disciplines.

Weiss has donated $60 million to the school in the past.
