Police Arrest Accused University Basketball Court Shooters

The final suspects are in custody in the shooting at an area university earlier this month after a fistfight broke out during a pickup basketball game.

University police Chief Patrick Ogden announced the arrests Wednesday of alleged shooter Brandon Fletcher, 20, of New Castle, Del. and Antonio Cox.

Ogden says two men began arguing during a game on Aug. 19 just before 11 p.m. at the university's Laird Campus in Newark and the dispute turned into a fistfight.

Ogden says after the fight broke up, one of the men got a gun from his car, returned to the court and fired several rounds at the man he was fighting with. He says the other man's car was hit at least twice but the man himself was unscathed.

Police identified the alleged shooter as Fletcher. University Police arrested Fletcher Tuesday night with the help of U.S. Marshals. Fletcher was arraigned on four counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, four counts of aggravated menacing, criminal mischief and firearm charges and was sent to county jail unable to post $1.4 million cash bail.

Over the weekend, police announced the arrest of Fletcher's alleged getaway Antonio McCray-Bradley, 21, also of New Castle.

On Wednesday, police announced that another alleged accomplice was also under arrest. Antonio Cox was arrested Tuesday and sent to jail unable to post $22,000 secured bond on hindering prosecution and possessing ammunition charges.

University of Delaware students hadn't moved onto campus yet at the time of shooting.
