Couple's Argument Ends With 2 Women Dead

Police release the identities of both women

An argument between a man and his girlfriend ended violently Sunday evening, when the girlfriend and a second woman were shot to death.

The double shooting happened around 7:20 p.m. in the Overbrook neighborhood along the 2200 block of Wanamaker Street.

Neighbors told the Inquirer that the suspect, a 55-year-old man, shot Rafeea Parker in the street in front of the home and then went after his girlfriend, who was inside the house. The gunman shot Renee Farrow Nesmith, 55, in the head, according to police.

Nesmith died at the hospital. Parker, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police told NBC10 the two were friends.

Authorities caught up with the suspect later that evening and took him into custody. He was being processed and expected to be charged Monday.

Investigators think Nesmith and the suspect were arguing before the shootings.
