Tow Truck Driver Says He Left Woman to Die

A tow truck driver from New York has admitted leaving the scene after a woman jumped from his truck and died on a New Jersey highway.

Dexter Jeanty of Brooklyn, N.Y., pleaded guilty on Monday to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in the death of 26-year-old Mary Macaluso.

Macaluso had been with a date when their vehicle broke down in 2011. Jeanty towed the vehicle to the date's home and Macaluso asked him to take her home to Keansburg

Jeanty testified Macaluso jumped out of the truck on Route 18 and was injured. He said he slowed the truck, but didn't stop.

Macaulso died from blunt force injuries.

Prosecutors will seek a five-year prison sentence under terms of the plea agreement with the 24-year-old and the woman's family.
