Teen Shot, Sneakers Stolen as He Died in the Street

Police have charged four teens with beating and fatally shooting a 15-year-old Pennsylvania boy and stealing his sneakers as he was dying.

Reading police say 15-year-old Willy Tineo was beaten and shot multiple times on a sidewalk early Sunday morning.

Tineo was walking with two other friends when they were approached. The two friends ran but Tineo tried to reason with the other teens.

Three 19-year-olds and a 16-year-old attacked Tineo -- demanding money -- before one of the suspects shot him and the assailants made off with the boy's shoes, police say.

Police charged Rodrigo Arana, Mario Ceballos and Julio Romero, all 19, and 16-year-old Alfredo Uribe with homicide and related charges. Investigators said the four were drinking before randomly attacking Tineo.

Arana is accused of being the triggerman.

"He was a convenient victim at the time," Reading police Deputy Chief Mark E. Talbot Sr. told the Reading Eagle. "We don't believe they knew him."

"He had a good heart," Willey's 16-year-old brother, Anderson, said Sunday, as he cried. Anderson showed up at the shooting scene shortly after it happened, after being alerted by a friend.

"When I saw him, my heart broke into pieces," Anderson told the newspaper. "He was on the ground with no shoes."

Talbot said it was one of the worst murders he's seen in the 16 years he's been on the force.

All four suspects are being held without bail at Berks County Prison.
