Teen Killed By Forklift

A 17-year-old boy has been killed by a forklift while working at a logging company in western Pennsylvania.

Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell says Jacob Byler, of Saegertown, died early Wednesday afternoon at Greenridge Forest Products in Cochranton.

That's where Byler was moving lumber when he backed the forklift off a loading dock, causing him to fall out of the driver's seat. Company owner Steve Kurtz tells The Meadville Tribune that's when the forklift rolled into the boy.

The coroner ruled the death an accident from multiple trauma injuries.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration routinely investigated workplace fatalities.
