Teacher Has Allergic Reaction After Student Passes Around Banned Perfume

Student sprayed perfume on fellow students in classroom with a teacher and kids that have severe allergies to it

Students in a Chester elementary school classroom were forbidden from wearing perfume this year, as several students and the teacher are severely allergic to such fragrances. One student did not follow the rules, putting many at danger, officials say.

A student in this allergy-prone classroom at Stetser Elementary School not only wore perfume to class, but brought the perfume into her classroom and applied it on others, school officials say.

The teacher suffered a serious allergic reaction, reports the Delaware County Times.

Students and parents of this particular classroom were alerted at the beginning of the school year to the severe perfume allergies to which the teacher and other students were prone, Principal Janet Baldwin told the delcotimes.com.

A district spokesman said that district officials β€œdeclined to speculate whether the student wore the perfume intentionally or accidentally,” reports the delcotimes.com.

Baldwin sent out another letter to parents and students, reminding them of the perfume ban. If the ban is intentionally broken, there will be consequences, the letter states.
