Delaware State Police have charged a Bear man in a hit and run collision in July in which a motorcyclist died.
Forty-three-year-old Aubrey Smith turned himself to authorities on Friday. He was charged with leaving the scene of a collision causing death and operation of a vehicle causing death. He is being held in lieu of $5,500 secured bail.
Troopers said on July 9, a motorcycle operated by 52-year-old Michael A. Harris of New Castle was traveling on Route 13 when it was struck from behind by a car. Harris was ejected from his motorcycle, and the other vehicle, identified as a Saab, fled the scene. Harris died at Christiana hospital.
Investigators says they were able to match parts of the vehicle left at the scene to a Saab owned by Smith.
