A police chase from Delaware County to Southwest Philadelphia claimed the life of an innocent man Sunday.
The chase began shortly after 1 p.m. on Route 291 in Tinicum Township after police tried to stop a man they believed stole a tailgate from a pick-up truck.
The chase ended at Bartram and Island Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia where police say the suspect driving a green Chevrolet Tahoe crashed into two people in a Chrysler sedan.
The driver of that car died, the passenger is hospitalized.
The suspect’s vehicle flipped on its side. He fled on foot but was caught a short time later, according to police.
