Nearly 1 Week Later No Power for Thousands

NJ down to about 8,000 without power

Atlantic City Electric hopes to restore service by midnight to most customers who lost electricity during a severe thunderstorm nearly a week ago.

However, the utility says it might be the weekend for those in areas that received the most extensive damage.

Some 7,942 homes and businesses are still without electricity six days after the storm downed trees and power lines.

At the peak of the outage, 206,000 power customers in New Jersey were going without electricity.

Meanwhile, conditions are still harsh for those without power. Forecasters expect high temperatures to remain in the 90s and approach 100 on Saturday.
