Pa. Library Closes After Fleas Move In

A library in northeastern Pennsylvania is getting bugged by a real pest.

A flea infestation is forcing the Pittston Memorial Library to close for several weeks.

Workers first noticed fleas around the computer lab in late July. An exterminator treated the library and they thought they had taken care of it, but the pesky critters resurfaced with a vengeance in a matter of days.

Library director Anne Hogya says the incubation period for fleas is 21 days so they'll stay closed until there's no doubt that the coast is clear.

They also want to prevent fleas from spreading in books through Luzerne County's inter-library loan program.
