Fatal Police Involved Shooting in Chester

Police said they shot a man who drew his gun on officers during a foot chase on Friday.

According to authorities, they were performing a pedestrian stop on East 23 Street in Chester on Friday evening before midnight.

Police said during the stop, the pedestrian, a 21-year-old black male, ran away, causing officers to give chase.  The pedestrian allegedly pulled a gun and fired, prompting police to return fire.

The man was struck, ending the chase.  He was transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center, where he died of his wounds.

Police said they recovered a firearm at the scene which was collected for evidence.

The investigation continues.
