Broken Axle Stops Hit-&-Run Driver in Northeast Philadelphia: Police

A broken axle finally stopped a car that went careening into cars parked along a Northeast Philadelphia early Monday.

Philadelphia Police received calls around 1 a.m. that a driver was crashing into parked cars along Horrocks Street near Knorr Street.

Police arrived to find at least four cars damaged and the crashing vehicle with a broken axle. The driver of the car, however, was nowhere to be found, said investigators.

Luckily no injuries were reported.

No word yet on the total amount of damage.
