New Vets Cemetery to Open in Pa.

Burials to begin in Jan. at Pa. veterans cemetery

The hope for a new national veteran’s cemetery in Pennsylvania will become reality next month outside New Hope, Pa.

A new national cemetery for veterans outside Philadelphia is set to open early next year.

The first burials at Washington Crossing National Cemetery will take place in mid-January, said officials.

The cemetery will be like Arlington National Cemetery, a shrine to soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country, U.S. congressman Patrick Murphy said.

The Department of Veterans Affairs will take possession of the land later this month. The 200-acre cemetery will remain under construction for several more years.
