Man Finishes Cross Country Trek in Delaware

A Georgia man has completed a cross-country walk in Delaware after starting his journey last year in California.

The News Journal reports Josh Seehorn of Athens, Ga., walked more than 4,800 miles during his 360-day trek. It ended Saturday when he reached Cape Henlopen State Park and saw the Atlantic Ocean.

After surveying the crowd of people who gathered to congratulate him at the beach, Seehorn told The News Journal, "This is overwhelming."

"To come to a beach full of people, it's awesome," he said.

Seehorn says it was a relief to finally reach the Atlantic. He says he can't walk any further.

The 27-year-old has been walking the American Discovery Trail to raise awareness about the North American Envirothon, an environmental education program and competition for high school students. When he reached the Delaware coast, he was greeted by friends from the program.

Seehorn started his journey in March 2013 on the beach at Point Reyes National Seashore in California.
