Man Who Shot, Blinded Boy Arrested: Police

Camden boy, 9, was shot and blinded while walking to his grandmother’s house

Authorities have made an arrest in a shooting that has left a 9-year-old in Camden blind and in a coma.

U.S. Marshals arrested 29-year-old Greg Rawls of Pennsauken in Winslow Township early Wednesday, reports the Courier-Post of Cherry Hill.

Jorge Cartegena was shot in the face at about 2 p.m. Monday by a stray bullet as he walked to his grandmother's house to feed his two parakeets.

Relatives said he was taking a break from playing basketball to walk to his grandmother's house to feed his parakeets when he was caught in crossfire.

Two days earlier, Jorge got a job detailing cars at an area car wash. With his first day's pay of $20 Jorge bought ice cream for himself and his sister, reports the Inquirer.
