A Philadelphia man was charged today for allegedly pointing a laser at Chopper 10.
Back on July 18, investigators say Daniel Dangler, 29, aimed a laser pointer at an NBC10 helicopter. The incident violated the FAA Modernization and Reform Act which established a new criminal offense for aiming a laser beam at an aircraft or its flight path in the United States.
President Barack Obama signed the act back in February after a growing number of incidents in which pilots were distracted or even temporarily blinded by laser beams.
If convicted, Dangler faces a maximum of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment.
