A local business has replaced the more than 70 wreaths that were stolen from the graves of veterans in New Jersey.
The South Jersey Times reports that a family that owns Shoprite supermarkets in Bridgeton and Vineland dropped off the wreaths Saturday at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home. Staff discovered that the wreaths had been stolen Friday morning.
Derrick Glenn is the special events coordinator at the veterans home and says that having the wreaths stolen right before Christmas added insult to injury.
He says that the Bottino family replacing the wreaths shows "that the community actually does care."
"Those wreaths were dedicated to Wreaths Across America - whose (primary) motto is remember our veterans," Glenn told the South Jersey Times.
There are 519 wreaths at the cemetery that cost about $5 each.
