Michael Schulson (the restaurateur behind Sampan) is set to debut the Independence Beer Garden on Thursday, July 10.
The 20,000 square-foot beer garden will be located at 6th and Market streets, and will overlook the Liberty Bell and Independence National Historical Park. Top Chef’s Chef Travis Masar will also be on hand, serving American-style food along with 40 taps featuring regional and domestic craft beers.
“A beer garden near the Liberty Bell, to me, fit perfectly in terms of a beer garden and what I wanted to do,” Schulson said. “American food is great, and it’s a comfort and very Philadelphia to me. The beer scene in Philly is exploding.”
