Police are searching for a man and woman accused of robbing an amputee during a home invasion early Sunday morning in North Philadelphia.
The 61-year-old victim, who did not want to be identified, began using a wheelchair after his legs were amputated. He told NBC10 he was locking the front door of his home on N. Warnock Street at 1:40 a.m. when a man and woman in their 20s approached him from behind.
“He said he had a gun,” the victim said. “But I didn’t see no gun.”
The suspects forced their way inside the home and pushed the man out of his wheelchair and to the floor. The victim said they used a t-shirt to gag him so that he couldn’t scream for help. They then ransacked his home, stealing his television, cellphone, wallet and other items.
“All the way down to paper towels,” the victim said. “Toilet tissue.”
The suspects left the victim on the floor and then fled through the backdoor of the home.
“I drug myself to the door,” he said. “I opened it.”

The man said he crawled to the door and made his way outside. He then waited for an hour before someone passed by and helped him.
The victim told NBC10 he was also once robbed of his shopping bags before after leaving a store. He believes robbers see him as an easy target because of his disability.
