A former New Jersey state trooper who led a high-speed escort of luxury sports cars is getting a reduced pension.
The State Police Retirement Board on Tuesday decided Sgt. 1st Class Nadir Nassry could keep his retirement at a lower pay grade.
The 48-year-old will receive about $68,000 instead of nearly $80,000 annually.
Nassry was sentenced to one year of probation and forfeited his job when he pleaded guilty to falsifying or tampering with records.
The escort down the Garden State Parkway began to make national headlines after one motorist who was passed by the Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other expensive, exotic cars described it as "Death Race 2012."
The 26-year veteran admitted he used tape to change the license plate of his patrol vehicle to conceal his participation in last year's convoy to Atlantic City, which reached speeds of 100 mph.
Nassry and a second state trooper forfeited their jobs and are barred from working in law enforcement in New Jersey.
