A friend of Eli Kulp's has launched an online fundraiser to help the award-winning chef's family offset the costs of his medical care, saying she hopes the money will allow the family to focus on his recovery and their 3-year-old son.
"It's going to be a very long road," said Kelly Mawn Silkworth.
Silkworth, who met Kulp's wife about 20 years ago while in college, organized the crowdfunding campaign, launching The Kulp Family Medical Fund Wednesday with the goal of raising $25,000. Another friend, Jessica Zayac, also helped start the website.
