Child Hurt In Southwest Philadelphia Hit-&-Run

A 5-year-old boy has been hospitalized after being injured in a hit-and-run.

The boy was hit by a gray Pontiac minivan around 7 a.m. on Tuesday at 52nd Street and Baltimore Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia, Philadelphia Police say.

First responders quickly took the child to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Their name, age, gender and condition were not immediately known.

Police say the driver of the minivan stopped after hitting the boy -- getting out of their vehicle and looking at him, before getting back in and driving off.

Investigators say the minivan has PA registration HCA-5975. Anyone who spots this van is asked to call 911.

Police closed 52nd Street for about an hour to investigate the incident. It has since reopened.
