Man Leaves Baby Alone to Rob Neighbor: Cops

A 20-year old Delaware County man was arrested Thursday for allegedly trying to get into his neighbor's Brookhaven home. What's more, according to investigators, he left his 1-year old daughter home alone during the attempted robbery.

Arthur Langley was taken into custody after he was allegedly seen trying to open windows and doors at Glenn Stanner's house.

β€œI feel a little uneasy" Stanner told NBC10.  "You don't think anything serious is going to happen, but at the same time, I also didn't think he was going to try and break into my house!”

Authorities say it happened Wednesday morning. Police were alerted by a resident who called 911 to report a suspicious person roaming the neighborhood.

"It appears that he was sort of an opportunist. It didn't seem like he was going to break in, but was looking for something that was open" said Brookhaven Police Chief John Eller.

Things got a little worse for Langley after police went to his house down the block. Investigators say they found the little girl in a child seat watching television.

"They were calling 'police' as they walked through the house and no one responded, so the child was sitting there by herself” said Eller.

"That's just child endangerment right there" said neighbor Scott Keller.  "You should not be doing that. That's ridiculous!"

Langley faces charges that include attempted burglary and child endangerment.

He's being held on $100-thousand bail.
