Allentown Juvenile Admits Sexually Assaulting 16-Year-Old Girl at High School: Police

A 15-year-old boy has admitted to sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at an Allentown high school last month, according to police.

The boy, unnamed due to his age, was initially charged with rape for the incident which took place in the basement of Dieruff High School on May 18.

The charge of rape is listed as a first-degree felony, but the juvenile admitted to one count of sexual assault at an adjudication hearing on Wednesday, officials say. Sexual assault is a second-degree felony.

Judge Kelly L. Banach will preside over the juvenile's disposition hearing, similar to a sentencing hearing in adult court, although the date for the hearing has not yet been set.

After talking with the family of the victim, Assistant District Attorney Sarah Heimbach said the family agreed with the resolution of the case.
