Intoxicated Boyfriend Killer Gets Leniency From Judge

Woman gets 7 to 15 years in Pa. shooting death

A judge says he took pleas for leniency from the mother of the victim into account in sentencing a woman in the shooting death of her boyfriend last summer.

The Erie Times-News reports that Erie County Judge Shad Connelly sentenced 29-year-old Kristina Mae Allen on Wednesday to seven to 15 years in state prison.

The term was in the mitigated range for Allen's third-degree murder and assault conviction in the August death of 27-year-old Dean Haggerty after an argument in the couple's mobile home in Summit Township.

Angel Haggerty told the judge that alcohol killed her son and Allen β€œjust pulled the trigger.”

Connelly said her comments moved him and agreed that the victim β€œwas severely intoxicated.” He also cited Allen's remorse and lack of a prior record.
