6-Year-Old Describes Intruder Attack

The little girl tells NBC10's Rosemary Connors that she was trying to scream after the man grabbed her, but was too scared

A brave 6-year-old girl says she tried to fight back when an intruder came into her family's North Philadelphia apartment and grabbed a hold of her.

The girl tells NBC10's Rosemary Connors that when her brother went to take their dog outside this afternoon, a stranger spotted her waiting in the doorway of the family's apartment at 18th Street near Berks Street. She says he walked inside, locked the door and took her upstairs.

β€œHe was trying to hold me and I was trying to get him off of me and he was holding me tight and I was trying to scream but I was scared to scream,” says the little girl.

The 6-year-old says the man was trying to kiss her, and that's when her Dad came running to her rescue. β€œI started swinging on him right here and I knocked him down the steps," said Shamont Carroll.

Police are searching for the intruder.

β€œHis face should be lumped up and bleeding. I definitely got him but it’s nothing compared to what my daughter is dealing with now and later on," said Carroll.
