    Video Shows Person of Interest in Ambush Attack

    Police released surveillance video of a person of interest in the ambush shooting of two undercover Camden County police detectives.

    What to Know

    • A total of $60,000 in rewards is being offered for information leading to the arrest of two men accused of shooting two Camden officers.

    • The undercover cops were ambushed while sitting at a light in Camden Tuesday night. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries.

    • Police have identified two persons of interest in the shooting, but have yet to make an arrest.

    A total of $60,000 in rewards is being offered for information that will lead authorities to two men accused of shooting a pair of undercover Camden County officers.

    A $30,000 reward is being offered by the Fraternal Order of Police for  information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. A $20,000 reward is being offered by the New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association.

    Finally, a $10,000 reward is being offered by the National Police Defense Foundation.

    The officers were ambushed by the gunmen on Tuesday while they were sitting in an unmarked car at a red light near the corner of Mount Vernon Street and Broadway in Camden. Around 8:30 p.m., two men approached their car and fired between 10 and 25 rounds into the car, police said.

    The officers fired back at the men, according to police, even though they were both struck by the gunfire. They were taken to Cooper University Hospital.

    Both officers were released from the hospital on Thursday, a Camden County spokesman said.

    “This unprovoked ambush on two police officers was a heinous act that was an attack on our community’s guardians. These detectives are empowered by the public to protect the city’s neighborhoods and ensure the safety of their streets,” NJ State FOP Lodge President Bob Fox said.

    Officials released surveillance video (see video embedded above) and photos of persons of interest in the shooting.
