4 Del. Bar Employees Stabbed

Fight ensued when customer refused to leave at closing time

Police in Delaware have arrested an Ohio man after he stabbed four bar employees during a fight at closing time Sunday morning.

46-year-old Clifford R. Perry, of Trenton, Ohio, was charged with four counts of first-degree assault, as well as four counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

The incident began shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, when the employees of the Tailgates Bar in Newark tried to make a customer leave so that they could close up. The man refused to leave, and eventually Perry was drawn into a fight.

Investigators say that Perry produced two knives from his pockets and stabbed all four of the bar employees. All four were taken to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Perry tried to flee the scene, but he was collard by an arriving state trooper while running through the bar's parking lot. He is being held at the Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $100,000 bail.
