3 Men Arrested for Shooting Deli Owner

Police arrested three men for their involvement in the attempted robbery and shooting of a deli owner at his Overbrook store on Tuesday.

The shooting happened around 11:30 a.m. inside the 65th Street Deli at 65th and Lebanon Avenue.

The 38-year-old store owner was shot in the head, cops said.

The store does have surveillance cameras but they weren’t working at the time of the shooting, according to authorities.

“We're not quite sure what happened inside the store since there is no real sign of a struggle.," said Police Lt. John Walker.

There was money left in the register, police said.

Witnesses told police they saw two men run from the store and get into a car that was waiting down the street.

Police found the car they believe was involved in the attempted robbery on Wednesday night in the Pathmark parking lot in Upper Darby.

The car was towed and the owner of the vehicle was questioned.

On Thursday, police arrested Eric Flood, 25, Devron Lewis, 24, and Devin Miller, 22. All three men are charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal conspiracy, robbery and other related offenses. Miller also has an additional charge of attempted murder while Flood and Lewis have additional charges of attempted criminal homicide.

The store owner remains in the hospital in critical condition.

Police initially investigated to see if the incident was connected to the shooting inside a West Philly grocery store earlier this month where the store owner, his wife and sister were shot and killed in front of the couple’s teen daughter. They now say that the two shootings are unrelated.
