She’s made headlines in New York and Philadelphia newspapers before. But the attention is not for accomplishments, it’s for the men who have died around her.
Edythe Maa, also known as Jade Vixen, is a former University of Pennsylvania Ph.D candidate for engineering, a former dominatrix, a fetish model and the girlfriend of a man who was murdered and a man who died in what police are initially calling an autoerotic death.
In 2008, Maa’s high-profile Manhattan attorney boyfriend Anthony Ottaviano was shot and killed by a stalker obsessed with Maa. Former S&M client David Krieg shot Ottaviano and then allegedly kidnapped Maa driving around the Philadelphia area until he released her and killed himself, reports the New York Post.
Three years later, on Aug. 18, Maa called Upper Darby police, telling them that she and her boyfriend’s brother found 49-year-old avionics engineer Peter Stelzenmuller, dead in a scuba suit, reports the Daily News.
"They find him in a full scuba suit with a mask and tubes coming from the suit," Upper Darby Police Capt. George Rhoades told the Daily News.
Though they are treating the case as an autoerotic case, police are not ruling anything out until the Delaware County Medical Examiner’s toxicology reports come back.
The Daily News reports that Maa’s Internet updates on Twitter and Google+ seemed unaffected by Stelzenmuller’s death. The day after Stelzenmuller was found dead in her attic, Maa tweeted about Christian Louboutin shoes on her wishlist.

Though Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood told the Inquirer that police have nothing to say about foul play at this time, he said that the investigation into Stelzenmuller’s death continues.
"I think you have to look at all the circumstances," Chitwood told the Inquirer. "When you look at [Maa's] history of sadomasochism, and find some stuff on her website about oxygen deprivation and all that, you need to find out if it's accidental or something else."
