Teen Disappears, Drowns in NJ Creek

Boy's body recovered after accidental drowning

A New Jersey teen went missing around 9 p.m. Wednesday after jumping into a Gloucester County creek with his friends.

Rescue crews searched the Raccoon Creek in Swedesboro for the teen until early Thursday morning. But after sometime the rescue search became a recovery mission.

On Thursday around 12:30 p.m. searchers recovered the body of 16-year-old Akeen Cody, according to Woolwich Township Police who are handling the case.

The body was found about 30 to 40 yards where Akeen was last seen, cops said.

Akeen had gone in the creek with some friends because they were hot and looking to cool off, sources said.

The death was ruled as an accidental drowning, cops said.
