Teen Stabs, Kills 14-Year-Old High Schooler Outside West Philadelphia School: Police

Backpacks and bicycles kept as evidence littered the ground where a West Philadelphia High student was stabbed and killed after school Friday.

The 14-year-old boy was riding his bike with his brother and a friend when a fellow West Philly High student ran up spotted them outside the school on 46th and Market streets Friday afternoon, police said.

"He sees the three, he runs right toward them — from what witnesses are telling — he's got a knife in his hand and jabs one time the victim in the chest," said Lt. John Walker.

The victim was rushed to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition. The boy died around 9 p.m. Friday..

A fight inside the school prompted the stabbing, officials told NBC10.

Police brought a 16-year-old West Philly High student in for questioning Friday evening. They expected to charge the boy with murder, said Walker.
