DA's Fitness Challenge: First Workout

New Philadelphia D.A. Seth Williams is working to get back into shape

I know I need to get into better shape and lose weight for several reasons.

My main motivators are to prepare for the Broad Street Run, to raise money for the F.O.P Heroes Survivors Fund (family members of slain police officers) and lose weight to help lower my high blood pressure.

I did not know what to expect from the “Fitness Challenge.” The first challenge was just waking up at 4:30 a.m. to get to the gym and be ready for class at 6 a.m.

We started by running laps around the indoor track. The competitor in me took over and I quickly sprinted to the front of the pack. That was the last time I will ever do that! I used all of my energy early and was on fumes when the workout began.

Hannah should be prosecuted for torturing us. She barked out instructions and orders as she lead us through 10 stations of calisthenics of pure pain.

When class was over I could barely move, let alone walk to the locker room. When I was able to pull myself together I dragged myself the steam room to help my muscles relax.

I could barely walk and couldn’t lift my arms over my head all day!

That was just day one.

I could barely walk that day and had community meetings until 9 p.m. I was dead tired and sore. I was still sore when I had to do it all over again on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s class was even tougher! With stations that focused on reps until muscle failure… and mine failed very quickly.

While I cursed Hannah during the class, I know the benefits will be dramatic.
