The Fred Winner fund for justice committee is now offering 25-hundred dollars for information leading to the arrest of a beloved Delaware County store owner.

Fred Winner – who owned a small variety store in Collingdale -- was shot and killed in Feb. 1993. His killer has not yet been caught.

Winner’s family does not want another killer to get away, so they are offering money to help police find the person responsible for shooting and killing 34-year-old Yogesh Bhavsar.

Police say Bhavsar was shot once in the chest, just before 5 Wednesday afternoon in his store at 535 MacDade Boulevard.

Bhavsar was allegedly killed while resisting a pair of would-be robbers. Police say the suspects fled the scene, shortly after the shooting.

Officers were looking at surveillance video taken from the store. It’s unclear if the attempted robbers made off with anything from the store. The register and cash were strewn across the ground.

Cops detained what they were calling two "people of interest" soon after the shooting but the men were later released, authorities said.

Bhavsar-- who friends called "Yogi"-- moved to Delaware County from Mumbai, India, 10 years ago, to be near his family.

“He came here, hoping that he might have a better life. He worked day to night, got a little place and he was doing really good and something like this happens,” said Amit Patel, Yogi's cousin.

"He was the purest soul ever," Yogi's neighbors Robert Veney said. "If anybody never deserved this, he didn’t. He would give you whatever you wanted. He helped people around here pay their rent; he fed people if they were hungry.”

Yogi's family is now asking for the community's help to find his killer.

“I’m just urging the people, if you know anything about it, please help the police know, so they can catch whoever did this,” Patel pleaded Thursday night.

Anyone with information should contact Collingdale Police 610-586-0502.
