“The Franklin” Is Dumped

“The Franklin” just wasn’t a bright idea. The re-vamped, or shortened, new name for the Franklin Institute was dumped because it was apparently too confusing (to tourists, we’re sure), according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

It sounded trendy, but the Franklin Institute “quietly reverted back” to the 185-year-old name after the re-branding marketing campaign just seemed to bewilder folks, spokeswoman Stefanie Santo told the paper.

“It’s a beloved name, and we welcome it back,” head of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp Meryl Levitz said.

The initial name change only affected the museum and not the nonprofit agency that oversees the institute.

We guess the old saying rings true: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
