That Girl: Gaby Esensten

This week's That Girl's Profile is Gaby Esensten.

This week's profile is Gaby Esensten of Rittenhouse Square. Philly fashion guru Catriona Whitehead shows us why Gaby is this week's That Girl.

What I like about this look.

This girl is fearless—she has taken a motley of pieces and thrown them together in such a way that actually makes sense. Firstly, all of the hues within this outfit are soft and complement one another. Secondly, while the stole (i.e. the fur around her shoulders), glasses, and knee high socks appear grandmotherly, she’s neutralized this by exposing some leg, wearing platforms, and leaving her longs locks down. Lastly, and most importantly, this young woman is wearing socks in peep-toed shoes, and a circa 1920s headband and she’s owning it with complete confidence! Look at that self-assured smile. That is why this outfit works.

Where could this outfit be worn?

This outfit is appropriate for lounges, the theater (a.k.a. plays/musicals/operas), and holiday parties. This outfit could be appropriate for dining out in the evening but I would recommend switching the stole for a blazer.

Where can you buy this particular look?

Stoles can be found at any major department store, second-hand shop (Second Time Around, Sophisticated Seconds, Green Street Consignment, Plato’s Closet), or thrift store. The dress is a little difficult to see, but any simple shift dress like this can be found during the spring and summer in any major department store, second-hand/thrift shops, Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, Target, True Religion, etc. Knee-high’s can be found in any major department store, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, JCrew, Target, etc.

Style tip?

Not everyone can pull off the headband and glasses combination like she did. For those who can't, choose one or the other.
