Teen Gets Up to 23 Months for Deadly Subway Attack

A teen involved in a subway platform beating that led to the death of a Philadelphia man will serve 11 to 23 months in prison.

Rasheem Bell, 18, is one of five teens who took part in a unprovoked attack against Sean Patrick Conroy as he waited for the Market-Frankford El in March 2008.

"I'm very sorry for what happened," Bell said just before he was sentenced Monday.

Four other teenagers charged in the man's death were sentenced earlier to 12 to 25 years in prison.

Bell got a shorter sentence because he cooperated, had no prior record, and encouraged other defendants and witnesses to cooperate with police, Judge Benjamin Lerner said.
