Jeff Michaud, Executive Chef and co-owner of Osteria and Amis, is welcoming his mother-in-law, Giuseppina "Pina" Carrara, for a special collaboration dinner on May 23 at Osteria at 6:30 P.M. Carrarra, who is a master chef in her own right, is visiting stateside from Lombardia to celebrate the birth of Gaia, Jeff and wife Claudia's first child.
For $150, diners will get a multiple course meal cooked by Michaud and Carrara, as well as wine pairings with each course. Tax and tip are included in the price, to keep things nice and tidy. Tickets must be purchased at the Eventbrite ticket site.
Carrara's home cooking is the inspiration for many of Michaud's classics, and she often helps in the kitchen of Osteria when she visits with her daughter and son-in-law. The dishes for the evening will feature specialties from her hometown. Lombardia is in northern Italy, which is famous for risottos moreso than pasta, and features cheeses and truffles in place of tomato-based sauces which are prevalent south of Toscana.
